| These DVDs show you true images of real, exquisitely dissected human
anatomical specimens, in three dimensions. As the camera moves from one
viewpoint to another, the specimen appears to rotate in space, letting the
viewer experience it as a three-dimensional object.
Acland's DVD Atlas uses fresh, un-embalmed specimens that retain the
color, texture, mobility--and beauty--of the living human body. A concise
synchronized narration runs throughout the program. As each new structure
is shown, its name appears on the screen. There is a self-testing feature
at the end of each section. Specific content can be accessed through detailed
searches of the index and table of contents.
For students, Acland's DVD Atlas is a time-saving aid to first-time learning,
an effective way to relearn anatomy for clinical rotations, and a time-efficient
tool for review. For clinicians in training and in practice, it assures
a swift renewal of anatomic knowledge. For teachers, Acland's DVD Atlas
shortens the time needed to provide immediate, satisfying explanations
of three-dimensional structure.

6: The Internal Organs
The sixth and final DVD in the series explores the fundamental structures
of the internal organs. It consists of three sections, describing:
The Thoracic Organs
The Abdominal Organs
The Reproductive Organs
Exciting details! DVD 6 presents detailed images of the internal
organs. Each organ is shown in its natural location, plus principal
organs are shown in isolation so that their three-dimensional structure
can also be clearly understood. In addition to the dissection and
presentation techniques already familiar to users of DVDs 1-5, DVD
6 presents numerous scenes made with Dr. Acland's "fishtank" technique.
This technique allows the viewer to see organs as if they were weightlessly
suspended in space, allowing a 360 degree view of the true shape
of the structure without the distorting effect of gravity. Shots
presented using this technique show the outer surface of organs
as well as cut-aways that present internal structure.

Acland's Cross Sectional Navigator
Featuring over 1,350 high-resolution images from the National Library
of Medicine's Visible Male project, Acland's Cross-Sectional Navigator
is a powerful tool for teaching and learning anatomy by cross-section.
For the first time ever, Visible Human project images are presented
in digital quality, allowing students to see cross-sectional anatomy
as never before.
Each slice from the Visible Male project is one millimeter; users
can view images in increments of 1, 5, 10, or 100 slices. The
intuitive navigation system allows users to locate structures
quickly. The interface includes a human silhouette to provide
longitudinal orientation through the body. Anatomic regions are
color-coded for quick-click access.

| Reviews of the Acland DVDs:
|
"These tapes give an excellent integration of anatomy principles
using live models, gross specimens and dry skeleton. They helped me tremendously
in class." -- Amy Fowler, Medical Student, University of Wisconsin at
Madison (2001) "These tapes have been so valuable in the Kinesiology
class I teach. The segments are broken down into the joints which is exactly
how I teach it." -- Linda K. Wilson, Triopia H.S. (2001)
"I love these video tapes. I only wish I had them as a first year medical
student." -- Stephen Parsons, Medical Student, University of Utah
School of Medicine (2000)
"These tapes are extremely helpful in understanding the depth and layers
of the human body." -- Rebecca Scot, Massage Therapist (2000)
"I sometimes lend the tapes to clients -- they are a straightforward
way for people to see how their bodies really work in 3D. Well done!"
-- Krisha Crabtree, Massage Therapist (1999)
"The style and balanced pace of the speaker, the excellence of the dissection
and the 3-D technology make this an excellent anatomy learning tool."
-- Ron Petit, M.S., Member of the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration
(1999)
"Before watching these tapes, I had an adequate grasp of human anatomy.
The tapes thoroughly reinforced my knowledge." -- Jason Kaplan, Medical
Student, Louisiana State University (1999)
"I teach Kinesiology to PTA students...an absolute must for any non-cadaver
course in Anatomy or Kinesiology" -- Williams H. Staples, MS, PT,
GCS Ivy Tech State College (1997)
"One of the best, cleanest presentations in gross anatomy I have ever
seen." -- Dr. K. Jackson Thomas, Medical University of South Carolina
