Understanding Your Weight received a Silver Award for Patient Education Information. Those involved in the creation of the product included Lesley Ochoa, Robert Kushner, MD and the creative staff of the Anatomical Images Group of LWW. This tool helps health professionals bring up and discuss the sensitive subject of excess weight with their patients. Developed with a leading expert in the field, this flipbook systematizes the obesity counseling techniques developed by Dr. Robert Kushner of Northwestern Memorial Hospital's Wellness Center. Ten important topics have been compiled in a flexible, step-by-step process to aid counseling, with simple visual and textual information facing the patient and "educator tips" on the side facing the physician/counselor. Also included are two 50-sheet "prescription" tear-off pads to aid diet and exercise tracking and advice. "We were delighted to participate in the National Health Information Awards Program and were honored to be selected as a winner," said Ochoa. "Our winning entry was chosen from nearly 1,000 entries judged by a panel of health information experts." The awards program is coordinated by the Health Information Resource Center, a national clearinghouse for consumer health information programs and materials. The Center, which houses a large collection of such public and private sector materials, promotes the distribution of accurate, timely consumer health information materials to professionals and managers in the field.
