Welcome to the LWW Support Center for Newsletter Authors and Prospective Writers!
Writing for Newsletters
Lippincott Williams & Wilkins publishes over 20 periodical newsletters specifically for physicians in the following specialties: anesthesiology, dermatology, critical care, oncology, ophthalmology, optometry, psychiatry, sports medicine, orthopedic surgery, chiropractic, physical therapy, radiology, neurosurgery, nutrition, and obstetrics and gynecology.
Articles are selected from currently published material, from papers prepared by members of each newsletter's editorial board, or from ideas submitted to a newsletter's editorial board. The Executive Editor of each newsletter invites and appoints members to its editorial board. Criteria are generally related to the frequency of invitations to write.
Submitting Articles to Newsletters
The articles
are generally not peer-reviewed, but reviewed by the editorial board
members of that newsletter. The following newsletters are currently
accepting outside submissions:
Contemporary Neurosurgery,
Contemporary Critical
Care, Contemporary
Ophthalmology, Contemporary
Optometry, Postgraduate Obstetrics
& Gynecology, and Contemporary
Spine Surgery. To submit an article to one of these successful
newsletters, download the author guidelines for each newsletter
here
or contact the executive editor(s) or newsletter
staff.
Developing Newsletters
If you have an idea for an original newsletter, prepare a proposal following these key considerations and submit it to the newsletter staff at LWW.
Newsletter Subscriptions
Know the newsletter you are preparing a submission for. If you do not currently subscribe, consider doing so. Consistently reviewing the articles in the newsletter you want to see your name in will help you in molding the style, tone, and subject matter of your paper or article. LWW publishes several newsletters online with full-text.
Production and Marketing of Newsletters
For information on the production of your article and the newsletter it will be appearing in, contact Karen Doyle, production editor for LWW newsletters. For information on the print or electronic marketing of specific newsletters or for reprints, contact Audrey Dyson, Newsletter Customer Service Manager.
