Radiologists are now, more than ever before, faced with
increasingly complex choices in the appropriate work-up of
patients. Using state-of-the-art imaging modalities,
radiologists confront options that are in a constant state
of flux as equipment and techniques are improved and
evaluated for cost effectiveness. And each year, hundreds of
articles are published which brings new insights and
information about improved diagnostic imaging methods to the
attention of these practitioners.
The medical literature these health care professionals are
expected to follow and the information they need to obtain
continues to proliferate and increase in complexity. Each
radiologist is challenged to maintain his or her skills and
to integrate new concepts as they arise. At the same time,
health care professionals face growing socioeconomic and
professional pressures to keep up to date in all aspects of
medicine. Meanwhile, their patient loads and other
professional commitments continue to increase. Added to
these pressures is their expanding involvement with
third-party paperwork, managed health care issues, and other
administrative responsibilities.
Contemporary Diagnostic Radiology has been published
with Continuing Medical Education credits available since
1977. This activity has proved to be an excellent
educational vehicle to provide radiologists with up-to-date
and easily read information on diagnostic imaging equipment
and techniques. This is supported by our 90%+ renewal rate.
Subscribers to the Contemporary Diagnostic Radiology
are primarily practicing, hospital-based radiologists, many
of whom have CME requirements.
Needs assessment data is compiled to determine the interests
of prospective CME participants. This data is submitted to
the publication's editor for consideration in developing
educational material, who then uses the data in selecting
editorial topics to be addressed in the periodical.
Contemporary Diagnostic Radiology helps meet the
expressed information and continuing education needs of
those radiologists who must ensure that imaging is done for
the right clinical reasons in an appropriate and optimum
manner, that their diagnostic conclusions are correct, and
that the information they relay to the clinician is useful
and clear.
