Charlotte, N.C. (June 8, 2012) – The leading source of professional information for experts involved in wound, ostomy and continence care is now even easier to access, with the launch of the new Journal of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing iPad app. Official journal of the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses (WOCN®) Society, the Journal of WOCN® is published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, a part of Wolters Kluwer Health.
The iPad edition of the Journal of WOCN is now available as a free download at the iTunes App Store. “Putting our journal on the iPad provides an engaging and flexible new option for accessing the clinical and practice information that supports our overarching goal: providing consistently excellent patient care,” comments Editor-in-Chief Mikel L. Gray, PhD, FNP, PNP, CUNP, CCCN, FAANP, FAAN, of the University of Virginia, Charlottesville. The new app is being introduced at the WOCN® Society’s 44th Annual Conference in Charlotte this week.
Essential Updates for WOC Nurses—at Your Convenience
The iPad edition of Journal of WOCN presents each issue in a state-of-the art digital format for a print-like reading experience. Each issue is delivered directly to your iPad, allowing you to download and read at your convenience. The app also includes special enhanced features, such as the ability to share articles and content via email. Plans call for video and multimedia content—such as demonstrations of evidence-based wound care techniques and ostomy marking procedures—to be added soon.
The iPad app also provides links back to the journal website, where subscribers can search, access, complete continuing education opportunities and read the full contents of every issue of Journal of WOCN from 1994 to the present.
The May/June issue is the first to be made available on the Journal of WOCN for the iPad. Highlights include the latest entries in the ongoing debate over whether some types of pressure ulcers are truly avoidable, along with new papers on relevant risk factors. Also available on the App is the special May/June supplement featuring scientific and clinical abstracts from the 44th annual conference—making it more convenient than ever to browse and find the presentations of special interest to you!

Subsequent issues of Journal of WOCN will be available on the iPad app on the same bimonthly schedule as the current online and print editions. Future supplements and special issues will also be posted for download as soon as they are published. During an initial trial period, all readers of the Journal of WOCN for the iPad will have free full access to the current issue.
