Web-based Application from the Copyright Clearance Center Streamlines Distribution of Copyrighted Content
Philadelphia, PA (May 7, 2009) – Publisher Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) announced that they have teamed up with the Copyright Clearance Center’s (CCC) Rightslink® system to automate online ordering of copyright permissions. Rightslink is an online e-commerce service offered by the CCC that allows users of content published by LWW to instantly obtain permissions to reuse and distribute copyrighted content. Lippincott Williams & Wilkins is a part of Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading provider of information and business intelligence for students, professionals, and institutions in medicine, nursing, allied health, pharmacy and the pharmaceutical industry.
“We are impressed by the ability Rightslink offers our customers to access permissions online and get immediate self-service”, said Bonnie Gruber, Vice President of Marketing and Strategy. “Choosing Rightslink to license the content of the nearly 275 periodicals published by LWW allows us to move the management of permissions requests from a time-consuming manual process to an efficient, automated and secure online ordering system. This will accelerate the processing time and enable us to focus on requests that are more complicated and need special consideration.”
Rightslink is the most widely used web-based licensing application, supporting more than 11,000 journals, magazines and newspapers, as well as thousands of books online. Customers have used Rightslink to place tens of millions of dollars in licenses, permissions and more. In addition, Rightslink’s real-time reporting capabilities provide LWW with a comprehensive view of licensing activity.
“Everyone from students to researchers to global pharmaceutical companies rely on the content from LWW to provide accurate and timely information,” said Bob Weiner, SVP Licensing for CCC. “By choosing Rightslink, they are streamlining the process of getting this information into the hands of those who need to use it quickly and efficiently.”
